(Atlanta, GA) -- Governor Brian Kemp is proposing a change to Georgia's citizen's arrest law. His office announced yesterday a new bill will eliminate loopholes used to justify a citizen's arrest and will focus on protections for law enforcement officers and private businesses. The plan was applauded by a lobbyist for the Southern Center for Human Rights. Georgia's antiquated law has been scrutinized since the killing of Ahmaud Arbery in Glynn County last year, after two men claimed they thought he was a burglar.
